Czechoslovakia - Some History
Approximately one quarter of all the piggy banks in Europe produced before the Great War (1914-1918) came from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This is also the case with the antique HEPP piggy banks I showed before (see "Particular piggybanks - Antique"). After the Great War that empire disbanded. It included Austria, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The pottery industry often established their headquarters in Vienna and the factories in Czechoslovakia. It is possible that some experts attribute a pig of this date (before 1914) to Austria, while I identify it as Czech. The piggy banks shown here are all from the Czech Republic.
