Czechoslovakia - Some History
Approximately one quarter of all the piggy banks in Europe produced before the Great War (1914-1918) came from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This is also the case with the antique HEPP piggy banks I showed before (see "Particular piggybanks - Antique"). After the Great War that empire disbanded. It included Austria, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The pottery industry often established their headquarters in Vienna and the factories in Czechoslovakia. It is possible that some experts attribute a pig of this date (before 1914) to Austria, while I identify it as Czech. The piggy banks shown here are all from the Czech Republic.

Czech Republic

The piggy banks shown are all from the Czech Republic, the Republic emerged in 1993 after the partition Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic and Slovakia).
They are all from the period 1980-2001. In those days one could still buy authentic piggy banks almost everywhere. Nowadays all piggy banks have those awful plastic stoppers. Known are the piggy banks with hats, which I found nowhere else
