Where to find the piggy banks? That’s the question! Type of shop/ market: Souvenir shop, crockery shop and sometimes in a toy shop.
Countries without piggy banks: Don’t search for piggy banks in countries where it is not custom to eat porc, where a pig is an unclean animal. In principle you will not find any.
Countries with piggy banks: Where traditional there are porcelain or earthenware factories you might find piggy banks. Gert’s collection contains for example piggy banks from the East European countries, Denmark, UK, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Czechoslovakia, etc. In his collection also are items from China, Thailand, Indonesia. Few from Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, many from Mexico (most made before the earthquake of 1985) and little from the USA. |
