Shown here are not the common souvenir piggy banks, but traditional (and nowadays rare) Frisian type piggy banks. The main centers of Frisian potteries are Makkum (see Introduction page) and Workum. From the many Workum potteries in the fifties and sixties only one survived. On the left old and antique examples of Workum earthen ware. |
